Qualitative Data Gathering

We offer a broad range of experience in qualitative methods, including in-depth interviews with key informants, group interviews, executive interviews, on-site participant observation/case studies, and focus groups.

Below are brief descriptions of some recent projects we have conducted including these methods for government and private sector clients:

  • Qualitative research for the process component of the evaluation of Healthy Babies, Healthy Children, a two-year evaluation for the Ontario Ministy of Health and Long-Term Care. The process evaluation decides how the program worked in each health unit. To deepen our understanding of the implementation and operation of HBHC, the evaluation also conducted in-depth studies of the program in 12 health units.

  • Qualitative research to evaluate the Maternal and Newborn Health Promotion Program for the Ministry of Health, Health Promotions Branch, a five-year evaluation of a community-based health demonstration program to reduce the incidence of low weight births.

  • Qualitative research to evaluate the Ontario Healthy Communities Coalition Initiative.

  • Qualitative research to evaluate the Ottawa-Carleton Regional Violence and Youth Initiative.

  • Qualitative research to examine market responses to a proposed telecommunications service.

  • Qualitative research to determine the impact of office automation demonstrations on the productivity, work habits, and attitudes of employees.

  • Qualitative research to develop the survey items for a customer satisfaction study for a telecommunications provider.

  • Qualitative research to explore the factors that motivate people to donate to charities, Increasing Donor Revenues.

  • Qualitative research to develop a set of indicators to describe the education system in Ontario.
