Modeling Resource Requirements for London Academic Health Sciences Complex Alternate Funding Plan

London Teaching Hospitals' Council

The Dean (Faculty of Medicine) and the Chief Executive Officers of the three teaching hospitals have formed the London Teaching Hospitals' Council (LTHC). The LTHC spans the major organizations that together make up the academic health centre in London. As input to the Council's planning process the Dean developed the "green book," applying the Program Cost Analysis/Construction Method (PCACM) to the Faculty of Medicine.

The LTHC retained our firm to assist with an examination of the issues that arose from the conceptual frameworks and the analysis that had been completed to date; specifically to:

Validate some of the estimates and relationships which had been used in the "green book" plan for the faculty.
Assess the resources and physician complement required for clinical coverage beyond that required by the academic mandate.

We worked closely with staff at the LTHC, the hospitals and the Faculties of Medicine to ensure that staff fully understood the models and acquired the requisite skills to use the models following completion of the study.
