Our recommendations for research are always responsive to budget and timing constraints as well as to the special features of any particular information requirement. For some projects, we work primarily as consultants, with considerable emphasis on clarification of issues and problem definition. For others, more importance is placed on survey execution, because the issues are clear and of a type that have been addressed many times before. Most require both types of involvement. In all cases, however, the creativity and expertise of our professional research team ensure that the best possible approach is always taken, and that sound analysis and implications are of paramount importance. Clarification of Issues and Problem DefinitionWhat is the marketing or public policy issue? What information do you know? What information do you need to know? Who can best provide this information? What sort of questions will yield the information required? How will you use the information collected? These are some of the questions we ask of clients to ensure that any research undertaken provides maximum return on investment. This allows us to provide sound advice on whether research needs to be undertaken, whether the information should be collected by a custom survey vehicle, on a shared-cost omnibus or using one of our many specialized research products. Survey ExecutionAll of our research professionals have immediate access to the state-of-the-art resources of TNS Canadian Facts. And since we have a full range of resources, data collection methods are selected based on the client’s information needs. We never try to fit the client’s needs into one of our data collection methods. Whether the project involves a two-week assessment of new advertising creative or a longitudinal five-year evaluation on the effects of a social policy initiative, we have the facilities to execute any research project on time and on budget. Analysis And ImplicationsOur analytical focus is always on relevance and practicality. We go beyond what the numbers say to uncover what they mean, especially as they relate to issues raised in the problem definition phase. As well, our statistical experts on staff are readily available for consultation on any study. We have extensive experience with a wide range of multivariate techniques that can be used to uncover deeper motivations and opinions. Regardless of the techniques selected our goal is to communicate research findings so our clients can make wise business or public policy decisions.
